Declaración unitaria

Desde hace años, en realidad también desde hace décadas, denunciamos el bloqueo impuesto por las autoridades de Estados Unidos contra Cuba. Hemos denunciado y seguimos denunciando las diversas políticas y medidas adoptadas por Washington desde 1959-1960 para aislar, desestabilizar y atacar a Cuba. Somos antiimperialistas e internacionalistas convencidos. 

Estamos muy preocupados por la detención durante una marcha de protesta en La Habana el 11 de julio de 2021, de Frank García Hernández, historiador y marxista cubano, de Leonardo Romero Negrín, joven socialista estudiante de Física de la Universidad de La Habana, Maykel González Vivero, director de Tremenda Nota y Marcos Antonio Pérez Fernández, estudiante de Preuniversitario que fueron detenidos el domingo 11 de julio de 2021 durante una manifestación en La Habana. Frank García Hernández es un importante estudioso que se ha ganado el reconocimiento mundial por su trabajo de revalorización de la historia de la izquierda cubana y la organización de un congreso internacional sobre Trotsky en La Habana en 2019.

Pedimos la liberación incondicional de Frank y de todos sus compañeros y el respeto de los derechos democráticos de todo el pueblo cubano.

Como afirmó la revolucionaria Rosa Luxemburgo en La Revolución Rusa en 1918:

Por otra parte, es un hecho conocido e indiscutible que es imposible pensar en un gobierno de las amplias masas sin una prensa libre y sin trabas, sin el derecho ilimitado de asociación y reunión.

Rosa Luxemburgo agregaba:

La libertad sólo para los que apoyan al gobierno, sólo para los miembros de un partido (por numeroso que este sea) no es libertad en absoluto. La libertad es siempre y exclusivamente libertad para el que piensa de manera diferente. No a causa de ningún concepto fanático de la “justicia”, sino porque todo lo que es instructivo, totalizador y purificante en la libertad política depende de esta característica esencial, y su efectividad desaparece tan pronto como la “libertad” se convierte en un privilegio especial.

 

Nota: En el momento de publicar esta llamada, hemos recibido informes no confirmados de que Frank García Hernández fue liberado el lunes 12 de julio. Nos alegramos de ello y esperamos la confirmación definitiva de su liberación. Por el momento no tenemos ninguna información sobre las otras personas detenidas con Frank.
